CROSSFIT-AC ATHLETE FOR THE MONTH OF APRIL IS ELIZABETH CRONIN!!
Crossfit-AC athlete for the month of April is Liz Cronin, this is her story.
Hi. Let me introduce myself. My name is Elizabeth (AKA Liz) Cronan. I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I have been chosen as the athlete of the month! I am humbled, surprised and honored all at the same time! I have never thought of myself as an athlete in the sense of the word that I have.
Somewhere in my late 20’s I decided to start exercising with some regularity, so I started running and joined a gym. I did some lifting at the gym and took classes like step aerobics and body pump. My friends and I even took boot camps together. That was all fine and good, until my friend Rhonda joined a Crossfit box in Worcester. She raved about it, couldn’t say enough, but I was skeptical and quite frankly scared! She had told me about the WODs and they sounded terrifying! She convinced me to take a class with her and another friend Tracey. During the WOD I was pretty sure I was close to dying, but I also enjoyed it in an odd way. The sense of comradery was evident the moment we walked through the door..so unique to Crossfit! And the sense of accomplishment…
I decided to join a box closer to me using a groupon (just in case… it gave me one month to decide whether to run for the hills or not)
Fast forward 5+ years and here I am at AC and loving it! Crossfit has given me more confidence, strength, stamina and a tremendous sense of accomplishment with every WOD. It has enabled me to do things today I never even dreamt of doing. The way everyone comes together, cheers you on, helps you out when you are struggling, coming with that pep talk at the right time. Crossfit is a wonderful family, so supportive and inviting. I feel like I have made some great friendships. I love WODing with my sister Susanne and niece Michaela. I feel Crossfit has formed a special bond between us and it means so much to me. I will carry that forever. Dino, Perry and Francesca have given me a great place to come together to play, fight to finish and be the best I can be. I am truly grateful and thankful for all that they have done a continue to do, and I look forward to my future in Crossfit…continuing to strive to be my best self!
